Utilities Import/Export
Utility
The Utilities Import/Export Utility is in the
Utilities folder. It is used to either export out all the settings in the
Utilities to an XML file or import in settings from an XML file:
Saving
Utility Settings by Exporting to an XML file
Exporting is for backup or for saving a
“Service Area Template”. The export goes into a file named “Config.xml”. This
file should be saved and renamed appropriately, with the Service Area name and
perhaps the date, so that it can serve as a backup. Usually, all the utilities
– the lists, the notifications, the colors, the templates, etc. - are
configured as desired, then an export is run to take a “snapshot” of the
settings. If for some reason the utilities are later deleted or corrupted, the
XML file can be imported to reset the utilities.
The XML file can also be used as a Service Area
Template. This is explained more in the Service
Areas section of the Manual.
Restoring
Utility Settings by Importing an XML File
The import function in this utility imports
an XML file that configures all the settings in the utilities. This can be done
to restore the utility settings, as mentioned in Exporting section above.
Setting
up a Service Area by Importing a Service Area Template
Importing can also be used to initially set
up a Service Area. We provide “Service Area Templates” on our downloads page. This can be
imported in this utility to set up a Service Area with the settings for that
type of Service Area, such as HR, Facilities, etc.
